Contribute Your Dollars

Preserving the past takes dedication and funding. Here's how you can help endow the future: Contribute to the preservation of Greater Hartford's Jewish history. Your tax-deductible gift to the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford will help support exhibitions, programs, services and publications. A contribution is also a meaningful way to acknowledge a special event or occasion. Legacy gifts, in which the donation is made through a will, are another important option and provide a means of benefiting the Society in the future.

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford is fortunate to have a permanent endowment fund held by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. The income generated by this fund is used exclusively to support the Society's programs and special projects. If you would like to create a fund or are interested in learning more about how to make a bequest, please contact Estelle Kafer, Executive Director, at (860) 727-6171.

Contribute Historical Artifacts

Click here to view our Collection Policy if you are considering a donation of documents or artifacts.

If you or someone you know is interested in being interviewed or has material that would benefit the Society's archives, please contact Estelle Kafer, Executive Director, at the Society office: (860) 727-6171 You may also contact the Society via e-mail at: ekafer@jewishhartford.org.

The Society’s first priority is the documentation of the history of the communities covered by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Items must be relevant to the Jewish community of Greater Hartford; the relevance may be to a local organization, an individual, or an event. Artifacts from other areas may be accepted but should have some historical tie to Greater Hartford. Acceptance of artifacts or documents will be determined on an individual basis and the Society may choose not to accept items that it believes it cannot maintain in proper condition, are too large, or burden the Society’s limited storage.
