Ados Israel's sanctuary
The structure was built in 1898. Organized in 1884, Ados Israel was the first Hartford Orthodox Jewish congregation to be founded by Eastern European Jews. It may have taken its name from a short-lived Orthodox group that broke away from Congregation Beth Israel in 1865 and disbanded in 1877.
